Current Position Openings

Director

Mountain Lake Services seeks an experienced, results-oriented senior management professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join a progressive management team providing services to people intellectual and developmental disabilities in southern Essex County.

The incumbent reports to Administration, and shall have strong leadership capabilities, with a background in program operations in a health care/human services setting. Responsibilities include supervising multi-level staff, directing operations, providing fiscal oversight, and ensuring quality services in a residential environment.

A Master's degree in Human Services or a related field is required, with 7-10 years of management experience in positions of increasing responsibility in a health care or human services setting, preferably in the field of developmental disabilities. A Bachelor's degree with significant management and administrative accomplishments may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. An excellent fringe benefits package is provided.

Staff Education & Development Coordinator

Mountain Lake Services offers this exciting management opportunity for an experienced professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven organization abilities. Responsibilities include: evaluating education and development needs of people we support and of the staff for all programs; planning and developing training curricula; coordinating and providing formal training; conducting internal management reviews; performing field observations and hands-on training; and ensuring adequacy of training materials and resources.

A Bachelor's degree in human services, business, or a related field is required. A Master's degree and experience in the developmental disabilities field are preferred. Experience in staff development, teaching, education, or training is necessary. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must. Assistant Manager / Manager

Mountain Lake Services seeks an Assistant Manager / Manager to manage services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Requirements include: developing, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating all services related to the people we support; managing and supervising staff; ensuring overall service area maintenance; and ensuring implementation and documentation of service provision. A Bachelor's degree in human services is required. At least one year of experience in MR or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must. An excellent fringe benefits package is provided.

Direct Support Professional Position Descriptions

New openings are frequently posted in local newspapers for all the positions described below.

We are always accepting applications for part-time relief staff for the Direct Support Professional position described in this section.

  • Many people have found working as relief staff to be an excellent supplementary income or a path to eventual full-time employment with the agency.
  • Volunteer and student intern opportunities are always available, too, and these have often led to subsequent employment with Mountain Lake Services.

Required Minimum Qualifications: HS diploma or GED degree, lifting ability, and a clean driving record.

  • Direct Support Professionals: Promote individualization by offering choices. Encourage people to be independent and actively involved in all aspects of their daily lives. Provide physical assistance, training, counseling, and emotional support as needed. Be actively involved in developing supports and services to each person served. Carry out specific strategies identified in the individualized service plan (ISP) and provide required documentation. Network within the community to help develop friendships and natural supports. Our minimum full-time starting rate is $11.25/hour.
  • Job Coaches: Provide intensive on-the-job training, long term follow-along support, job development, and advocacy. Assist workers to become more independent in their job tasks. Maintain records in accordance with OMRDD, VESID and program requirements.

Management Position Descriptions

Required Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA degree and/or equivalent licensure for RN/LPN positions, lifting ability, and a valid driver's license.

  • Assistant Managers: Manage daily operations of residences for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Supervise residential staff through ongoing support, feedback and training. Implement and document services and enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Service Coordinators: Actively advocate for each person served and ensure the development of needed supports and services through person centered planning. Communicate with all relevant parties including the person, their advocate, family, service providers, and interested community members regarding achievement of outcomes and response to services. Plan and conduct team meetings annually, semi-annually, and as needed. Network as necessary to obtain adaptive technology, environmental modifications, clinical, and community services. Write and amend the individualized service plan (ISP) and complete the service coordinator contract. Maintain service coordination notes, quarterly observation reports, and all other necessary documentation.
  • Registered Nurses: Assess individual medical needs and coordinate medical services. Present staff trainings on health related issues; and ensure compliance with medication policies. Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions follow a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.
