Direct Support Professionals

We always accept applications for the Direct Support Professional position and for part-time relief staff for the Direct Support Professional position described herein.

Many people have found working as relief staff to be an excellent supplementary income or a path to eventual full-time employment with the agency.

The starting rate is $12.25 to $15.25/hour. $500.00 BONUS AFTER 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.

Description: Promote individualization by offering choices. Encourage people to be independent and actively involved in all aspects of their daily lives. Provide physical assistance, training, counseling, and emotional support as needed. Be actively involved in developing supports and services to each person served. Carry out specific strategies identified in the individualized service plan (ISP) and provide required documentation. Network within the community to help develop friendships and natural supports.

Other responsibilities may include provision of intensive on-the-job training, long-term follow-along support, job development, advocacy, assisting workers to become more independent in their job tasks, and maintaining records in accordance with OPWDD, VESID and program requirements.

Requirements: HS diploma or GED degree, lifting ability, and a clean driving record. Previous experience with intellectually disabled people is a plus.

Assistant Director

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic, committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Essex County, NY. Responsibilities include: assisting with administrative oversight of the Clinical Services program; ensuring coordination and delivery of services to individuals served according to regulatory requirements; overseeing the Informed Rights Specialist; preparing clinical and behavioral assessments as needed; providing preliminary assessments for new admissions; supervising intake and discharge of individuals served; chairing the Sexual Advocacy & Rights Committee and Human Rights Committee.

Requirements: A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field is preferred. with 7-10 years experience in positions of increasing responsibility is required. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Staff Education & Development Coordinator

Description: Seeking an energetic professional to provide staff education and development. Evaluate education and development needs of people we support and of staff for all programs; plan and develop training curricula; coordinate and provide formal training; conduct internal management reviews; perform field observations and hands-on training; ensure adequacy of training materials and resources.

Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in human services, business, or a related field is required. A Master's degree and experience in the developmental disabilities field are preferred. Experience in staff development, teaching, education, or training is necessary. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Nursing Manager

Description: Seeking an energetic and committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include: daily supervision and oversight of health services delivery throughout the agency; supervising, planning, organizing and assigning responsibilities for all RNs and LPNs; conducting onsite inspections and reviews to ensure compliance with agency standards for services delivery; oversight of all medical supplies and equipment purchases; and serving as liaison for medical issues and concerns with the Clinical Director, Directors, pharmacies, and hospital personnel as necessary.

Requirements: A Master's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of administrative experience are preferred. Knowledge of medical/clinical services needs is preferred. A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable, given appropriate experience. An RN license to practice in NY State is required. At least two years' supervisory experience in a clinical or agency setting is preferred. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Port Henry, NY. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, with RN on-call rotation.

Employment Services Manager

Description: Seeking an energetic and committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include: managing contracts and related funding; fiscal oversight; assisting in coordination of job development and coaching activities; coordinating with other agency programs, local businesses and other providers; advocating for and counseling people placed in community job sites; coordinating employment services with other agency programs; communication with other programs regarding but not limited to VESID, Social Security & MLS programs; promotion of supported employment services to local businesses and other providers. Requires following a flexible work schedule with some evenings and weekends.

Requirements: A Bachelors's degree, driving license and clean driving record are required. Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled people is required. Previous experience in a supported employment environment is preferred. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Port Henry, NY. This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, with a flexible schedule, evenings & weekends included. Scheduling will be determined by the schedules of supported workers.

Registered Nurses (RNs)

Description: This is a stimulating management opportunity for an energetic, compassionate nurse to work with adults with intellectual disabilities. The incumbent is responsible for assessing individual medical needs; coordinating medical services; providing staff training about health-related issues; and ensuring compliance with medication policies.

Additional Duties: Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions have a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.

Requirements: An RN license to practice in New York State is required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)

Description: This is a stimulating opportunity for an energetic, compassionate nurse to work with adults with intellectual disabilities in residential settings under the supervision of an RN. The incumbent is responsible for: assisting with the assessment of individual medical needs; coordinating medical services; providing staff training about health-related issues; and ensuring compliance with medication policies.

Additional Duties: Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions have a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.

Requirements: An LPN license to practice in New York State is required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Production Workers

Description: Perform varied tasks that include operating woodworking machinery or assembling, packaging and finishing wood products.

Requirements: Ability to set up, adjust and operate woodworking machines while ensuring quality standards are met.

Locations: Essex Industries, Mineville, NY (part-time up to 35 hours/week) and Essex Pellet & Pellet, Keeseville, NY (full-time).

Residential Manager

Description: This is a stimulating management opportunity for an energetic, compassionate professional to manage services in homes for adults with intellectual disabilities. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating all services related to the residents served. Responsibilities also include managing and supervising staff; and ensuring overall maintenance of the homes.

Manage daily operations of residences for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Supervise residential staff through ongoing support, feedback and training. Implement and document services and enhance residents' quality of life.

Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is required. Two years' experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilties is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Support Specialist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic, committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Responsibilities include:  individual and group counseling, conducting functional behavioral assessments, developing behavioral intervention plans, providing staff training, and crisis intervention.

Requirements: Experience in the field of intellectual and development disabilities is preferred. A Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field of Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field is preferred, or a New York State license in Mental Health Counseling, or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification are preferred. Proficient usage of computers is essential. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff are a must.

Physical Therapist (part-time or per diem)

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed part-time or per diem Physical Therapist to provide services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Port Henry, NY under the supervision of a qualified Physical Therapist. Services provided will address people's habilitative needs. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.

Requirements: Must be licensed and registered in NYS. Experience with people with intellectual disabilities is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

HR Specialist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time HR Specialist in a fast-paced HR office. Responsibilities for this entry-level position include: general clerical, administrative and receptionist duties; communication with insurance and healthcare providers as necessary; assisting staff with questions and changes pertaining to personnel policy, benefits, medical insurance & Section 125 flex plan

Requirements:  A high school diploma or GED is required, with general office experience; an Associates Degree is preferred. Scheduler

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time Scheduler in the Southern/Eastern region of Essex County.  Responsibilities include: scheduling DSPs (Direct Service Professionals) for program needs, medical appointments, trips, outings, and residents' vacations; assisting with DSP orientation; ensuring DSP attendance at required & specialized trainings and monthly staff meetings.

Requirements:  A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associates Degree is preferred. At least three (3) years' DSP experience is required. Computer experience is required. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

We have immediate openings in Jay, Keeseville, Willsboro, Westport, Elizabethtown, Port Henry, Crown Point, Ticonderoga, and Schroon Lake. Earn up to $15.25/hour.

Management Position Descriptions

  • Assistant Managers: Manage daily operations of residences for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Supervise residential staff through ongoing support, feedback and training. Implement and document services and enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Service Coordinators: Actively advocate for each person served and ensure the development of needed supports and services through person centered planning. Communicate with all relevant parties including the person, their advocate, family, service providers, and interested community members regarding achievement of outcomes and response to services. Plan and conduct team meetings annually, semi-annually, and as needed. Network as necessary to obtain adaptive technology, environmental modifications, clinical, and community services. Write and amend the individualized service plan (ISP) and complete the service coordinator contract. Maintain service coordination notes, quarterly observation reports, and all other necessary documentation.
  • Registered Nurses: Assess individual medical needs and coordinate medical services. Present staff trainings about health-related issues. Ensure compliance with medication policies. Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions follow a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.
