Current Position Openings

Direct Support Professionals

We always accept applications for the Direct Support Professional position and for part-time relief staff for the Direct Support Professional position described herein.

Many people have found working as relief staff to be an excellent supplementary income or a path to eventual full-time employment with the agency.

The starting rate is $13.50 to $16.50/hour. $500.00 BONUS AFTER 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.

Description: Promote individualization by offering choices. Encourage people to be independent and actively involved in all aspects of their daily lives. Provide physical assistance, training, counseling, and emotional support as needed. Be actively involved in developing supports and services to each person served. Carry out specific strategies identified in the individualized service plan (ISP) and provide required documentation. Network within the community to help develop friendships and natural supports.

Other responsibilities may include provision of intensive on-the-job training, long-term follow-along support, job development, advocacy, assisting workers to become more independent in their job tasks, and maintaining records in accordance with OPWDD, VESID and program requirements.

Requirements: HS diploma or GED degree, lifting ability, and a clean driving record. Previous experience with intellectually disabled people is a plus.

Location: Varies throughout Essex County.

Licensed Master Social Worker

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic, committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, conducting assessments, coordinating the admission/discharge process, and providing staff training. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary. 

Requirements:  An LMSW degree in Social Work is required. Previous experience in the field of intellectual and development disabilities is desirable. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location:  May vary throughout Essex County, NY. Monday through Friday work schedule.

Physical Therapist (part-time or per diem)

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed part-time or per diem Physical Therapist to provide services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Port Henry, NY under the supervision of a qualified Physical Therapist. Services provided will address people's habilitative needs. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.

Requirements: Must be licensed and registered in NYS. Experience with people with intellectual disabilities is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Occupational Therapist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed part-time occupational therapist to provide services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services address habilitative needs. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.

Administrative Assistant

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time Administrative Assistant to oversee day-to-day operations in the Clinical Services office. This position provides advanced secretarial, administrative and technical support to the Article 16, Psychology, and Social Work departments, and assists with scheduling, billing, and enrollment documentation.

Requirements:  A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associates Degree is preferred, with a minimum of four years general office experience. Proficiency in computer skills and the use of office machines is required. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Community Habilitation Specialist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time Community Habilitation Specialist to support intellectually and developmentally disabled people in the community. This person will: partner with individuals to enhance independent living skills in all aspects of their lives;  provide opportunities for individuals to participate in recreational activities of choice, as well as offering exploration of new experiences; actively network within the community to help develop friendships, natural supports, volunteer opportunities etc.; develop a respectful and collaborative relationship with families/advocates; and complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements:  A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associates Degree is preferred, with a minimum of four years general office experience. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Job Coach

Description: Mountain Lake Services a Job Coach to provide on-site job training to  intellectually and developmentally disabled people seeking job placement. Responsibilities include assisting individuals in evaluating their job needs, completing employment applications, developing resumes, and preparing for interviews, providing intensive on-the-job training and long-term follow-along support, job development & advocacy, and assisting people to become independent in their job tasks. Work schedule is flexible with varied day, evening, and weekend hours.

Requirements: A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary. Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled people and previous knowledge or experience in a supported employment environment is preferred.

Location: Essex County, NY, with frequent work-related travel. Tools and vehicle are provided.

Vocational Manager

Description: Work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a supportive and enthusiastic manner to provide instruction and training in vocational skill development and establishing a positive perspective on basic work skills. Implement employment services by Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and ACCES-VR, including but not limited to Supportive Employment (SEMP) and Pre-Vocational Services. Support developing job/educational opportunities for individuals living with disabilities, including but not limited to job coaching, job discovery/development and other employment training.

Requirements:  A Bachelor's degree in Human Services is preferred. An Associates degree with 2 years’ experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Location: Port Henry, NY.

Special Education Itinerant Service (SEIS) Provider

Description: Provide special education services with a team to create and implement Individualized Family Services Plans / Individualized Educational Programs in a home- and community-based early childhood intervention program.

Requirements:  NYS Special Education Teacher with Birth-Preschool Certification or NYS- licensed Speech Language Pathologist with TSHH certification and Certification of Clinical Competence from American Speech & Hearing Association required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Location: Port Henry, NY.

Direct Support Professional Position Descriptions

Our minimum full-time starting rate is $14.00/hour.

We are currently accepting applications for full-time, awake overnight, and relief staff for the Direct Support Professional position described in this section. We have immediate openings in Jay, Keeseville, Willsboro, Westport, Elizabethtown, Port Henry, Crown Point, Ticonderoga, and Schroon Lake. Earn up to $17.00/hour.

  • Many people have found working as relief staff to be an excellent supplementary income or a path to eventual full-time employment with the agency.
  • Volunteer and student intern opportunities are always available. These have often led to subsequent employment with Mountain Lake Services.

Management Position Descriptions

Required Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA degree and/or equivalent licensure for RN/LPN positions, lifting ability, and a valid driver's license. LMSW degree/certification for LMSW positions.

  • Residential Managera and Assistant Managers: Manage daily operations of residences for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Supervise residential staff through ongoing support, feedback and training. Implement and document services and enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Licensed Master Social Workers: Provide individual and group counseling, conduct assessments, coordinate the admission/discharge process, and train staff.
  • Registered Nurses: Assess individual medical needs and coordinate medical services. Present staff trainings about health-related issues. Ensure compliance with medication policies. Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions follow a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.
