Direct Support Professionals

We always accept applications for the Direct Support Professional position and for part-time relief staff for the Direct Support Professional position described herein.

Many people have found working as relief staff to be an excellent supplementary income or a path to eventual full-time employment with the agency.

The starting rate is up to $18.80/hour. $750.00 BONUS AFTER 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.

Description: Promote individualization by offering choices. Encourage people to be independent and actively involved in all aspects of their daily lives. Provide physical assistance, training, counseling, and emotional support as needed. Be actively involved in developing supports and services to each person served. Carry out specific strategies identified in the individualized service plan (ISP) and provide required documentation. Network within the community to help develop friendships and natural supports.

Other responsibilities may include provision of intensive on-the-job training, long-term follow-along support, job development, advocacy, assisting workers to become more independent in their job tasks, and maintaining records in accordance with OPWDD, VESID and program requirements.

Requirements: HS diploma or GED degree, lifting ability, and a clean driving record. Previous experience with intellectually disabled people is a plus.

Associate Director of Programs

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks a dynamic, focused professional for an executive position in an organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Essex County, NY. Responsibilities include: administrative oversight and leadership to agency programs; assisting with development projects; and planning.

Requirements: A Master’s degree in human services, or a related field is preferred. with substantial administrative and management experience in positions of increasing responsibility is required. 7-10 years' experience in the I/DD field is essential. Computer experience is required. Excellent communication skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Description: Provide outpatient care in an Article 16 Clinic setting to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have psychiatric mental health needs. Within the clinic setting, develop treatment plans in collaboration with family members and professional staff. This position entails diagnosing, conducting assessments, prescribing medications, and providing psychosocial examinations and emergency psychiatric services.

Requirements: An RN license to practice in New York State is required, as well as a Master's degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing from a state-approved and accredited school for psychiatric training. Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is also required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Residential Manager

Description: This is a stimulating management opportunity for an energetic, compassionate professional to manage services in homes for adults with intellectual disabilities. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating all services related to the residents served. Responsibilities also include managing and supervising direct support professional staff; and ensuring overall maintenance of the homes, and ensuring development and implementation of all services with attention to the well-being and quality of life for each person.

Manage daily operations of residences for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Supervise residential staff through ongoing support, feedback and training. Implement and document services and enhance residents' quality of life.

Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is required. Two years' experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilties is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Production Worker

Description: Perform varied tasks that include operating woodworking machinery or assembling, packaging and finishing wood products.

Requirements: Ability to set up, adjust and operate woodworking machines while ensuring quality standards are met. At least a High School Diploma/GED is required.

Locations: Essex Industries, Mineville, NY (flexible hours, Monday-Friday).

Registered Nurse (RN)

Description: This is a stimulating management opportunity for an energetic, compassionate nurse to work with adults with intellectual disabilities. The incumbent is responsible for assessing individual medical needs; coordinating medical services; providing staff training about health-related issues; and ensuring compliance with medication policies.

Additional Duties: Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions have a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.

Requirements: An RN license to practice in New York State is required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Elizabethtown, NY.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Description: This is a stimulating opportunity for an energetic, compassionate nurse to work with adults with intellectual disabilities in residential settings under the supervision of an RN. The incumbent is responsible for: assisting with the assessment of individual medical needs; caring for people's medical needs; following up on medical and clinic appointments; coordinating medical services; providing staff training about health-related issues; medication & treatment administration; and ensuring compliance with medication policies.

Additional Duties: Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions have a flexible Monday-Friday work schedule.

Requirements: An LPN license to practice in New York State is required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Description: This is a stimulating opportunity to work with adults with intellectual disabilities in residential settings under the supervision of an RN. The incumbent is responsible for: assisting people with activities of daily living skills; caring for people's medical needs; attending and following up on medical and clinic appointments; and medication & treatment administration in compliance with medication policies.

Additional Duties: Provide prompt and proper medical attention to residents' routine and special medical needs. Ensure that accurate and complete records of medical and nursing services are entered into each resident's file. These positions are full time weekend and evening hours.

Requirements: A NYS CNA certification in New York State is required. Experience with people with developmental disabilities is desirable and preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Moriah, NY.

Driver

Description: Drive agency vehicles to transport people to and from routine medical appointments. Ensure required paperwork is completed by medical providers and distributed to appropriate parties. Convey appointment outcomes to nursing personnel upon return.

Requirements: At least a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Varies throughout Southern/Eastern Essex County.

Human Resources Specialist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time Human Resources Specialist in a fast-paced HR office. Responsibilities for this entry-level position include: general clerical, administrative and receptionist duties; communication with insurance and healthcare providers as necessary; assisting staff with questions and changes pertaining to personnel policy, benefits, medical insurance & Section 125 flex plan, and onboarding new employees for Mountain Lake Services and Fiscal Intermediary Services.

Requirements:  A high school diploma or GED is required, with general office experience; an Associates Degree is preferred. General office experience and proficiency in computer software usage (e.g. database management, information processing) and usage of office machines (phone, fax, typewriter, copier, etc.) is required. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location: Port Henry, NY. Monday-Friday work schedule, 800 am to 430 pm.

Operations Manager

Description: Mountain Lake Services' Essex Industries seeks a motivated, self-driven team leader with excellent organization skills and woodworking abilities. The successful applicant will be asked to help oversee production in a fast-paced and growing manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include: inventory & production control; quality control & training; resource allocation & development; machine maintenance & setup; oversight of R&D and safety regulations; aiding in the creation of jigs, fixtures & training; assisting the people we support in the various jobs required in our workshops.

Requirements: Minimum seven (7) years; experience in a production setting, five (5) years' supervisory experience, and at least a High School Diploma/GED. A valid drivers license is required. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must, in addition to strong organization skills, proficient oral and written communication, and working cooperatively with people within and outside of the program.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Assistant Foreman

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks a motivated and experienced Assistant Foreman with knowledge of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our fast-paced production facility. Responsibilities include: monitoring work processes, ensuring proper job setups, and assisting in daily production.

Requirements: A High School Diploma/GED and a valid drivers license are required. Woodworking experience, machine setup/operation, or equivalent knowledge of woodworking processes is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Community Pre-Vocational Specialist

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic and committed full-time Community Pre-Vocational Specialist to work with intellectually and developmentally disabled people. This person will provide instruction in vocational skill development; teach and model work skills and professional work habits; and maintain accurate documentation within regular pre-vocational progress notes.

Requirements:  At least a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license is required. Good computer and writing skills are required. Retail and customer experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Social Worker

Description: Mountain Lake Services seeks an energetic, committed professional to work in a dynamic organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, conducting assessments, coordinating the admission/discharge process, and providing staff training. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary. 

Requirements:  An LMSW degree in Social Work is required. Previous experience in the field of intellectual and development disabilities is desirable. Strong analytical skills are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff is a must.

Location:  May vary throughout Essex County, NY. Monday through Friday work schedule, 40 hours/week, flexible to meet the needs of people being supported.

Job Coach

Description: Mountain Lake Services a Job Coach to provide on-site job training to  intellectually and developmentally disabled people seeking job placement. Responsibilities include assisting individuals in evaluating their job needs, completing employment applications, developing resumes, and preparing for interviews, providing intensive on-the-job training and long-term follow-along support, job development & advocacy, and assisting people to become independent in their job tasks. Work schedule is flexible with varied day, evening, and weekend hours.

Requirements: A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary. Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled people and previous knowledge or experience in a supported employment environment is preferred.

Location: Essex County, NY, with frequent work-related travel. Tools and vehicle are provided.

We have immediate openings in Jay, Keeseville, Willsboro, Westport, Elizabethtown, Port Henry, Crown Point, Ticonderoga, and Schroon Lake. Earn up to $18.80/hour.
